This page serves as an archive for previous market news and information. Hopefully, over time it will be an interesting historical spot to look at what has happened to WOS over time!

Week ending 3/15/03
We're back and bigger than ever! Added Be Sharps Apu the charts, and recently lots of fluctuation with the latest exclusives. Be Sharp Homer has recently dipped, as Apu is coming on strong.

Simpsons Main Street $79.87
Simpsons New Years $34.88
Llewellyn Sinclair & Cooder $49.18
Be Sharps Homer $38.45
Be Sharps Apu $46.56

In General,The Simpsons WOS market has seemed to pick up a bit, many oldies have really jumped, overall prices are steady. Series 1-3 all gained together as sets. Moe has started to become more popular lately, my guess is that everyone needs a Moe to go with their Moes Tavern & Duffman . Scout Leader Flanders has dipped recently, perhaps the craze for wave 11 has taken over.Celebrity short-packed Hank Scorpio has continued to sell well in the aftermarket.

Playsets playsets jumped alot this month, with some of the early wave one stuff really climbing. Both Living Room & Power Plant jumped this month, with the Living Room going to near all time highs.

For Exclusives, Glow in the Dark Homer has started to pick up again, very few auctions around, and perhaps the Market for exclusives is getting better. In addition, Pin Pal Burns and THOH 1 have rebounded sharply! The oldest and most traditionally sought after toys are up and coming again.

In Wave 4,
Casual Homer and Ralph took a beating, and suprisingly, even Patty started to climb! -- Simply amazing!

With Wave 3 Moe is the only notable climber of the group! He has climbed the last 3 surveys, one of the few figures to do that, and makes the Movers & Shakers list the last 2 times! Doesn't he look great with Duffman?

In Series 2 news Waylon Smithers stablized after a few month history of droppoing steadily, Tavern Pal Barney jumped this month as well! You gotta have Moe, Homer, Barney for the Tavern. I wonder if Lenny and Carl will also become more sought after.

Series 1 price raised a couple of bucks this month, especially with Grandpa and Krusty beginning an upward trend.

Week ending 1/21/03
Happy New Years Everyone! We're back, and lots to report! Lets start by saying that we're adding in more Exclusives, for the newest TRU and Mail Aways. Simpsons Main Street was the hot ticket initially this season, but seems like lots of sets ended up being available, and prices took a predictable fall.

Simpsons Main Street $64.70
Simpsons New Years $35.76
Llewellyn Sinclair & Cooder $42.03
Be Sharps Homer $42.77

New Years Times Square sets really took an unexpected beating! They are selling low, and really, I still think the set is a fantastic one! (Homer makes a great wedding cake topper!)

In General, the Simpsons WOS Market is on it's way down still, but there have been a few surprises. Scout Leader Flanders really has become the hottest general release figure in awhile! Ebay auctions ending in the $15ish range! also Celebrity short-packed Hank Scorpio has continued to sell well in the aftermarket.

In General, Playsets playsets have started to rebound a bit, and as a group, they seemed to do better than anyone else. The Living Room , Power Plant and Kwik-E-Mart in particular rebounded from pre-holiday marks.

For Exclusives, Glow in the Dark Homer , and many of the Pin Pals ( Pin Pal Burns , Pin Pal Moe ) and other Toyfare group toys did well. THOH 1 has really fallen, down well below the century mark and THOH 2 has remained fairly stable in it's usual $60ish range. And Despite what a recent Toyfare Magazine stated, Radioactive Man & Fallout Boy (while not actively tracked here) has remained under retail price.

Ralph Wiggum auctions seem to have really skyrocketed in pure numbers (was someone out there stocking up on Ralph figures?)
Otherwise Moe was the big winner this past week, upping his market value, perhaps in anticipation of the long awaited
TAVERN Playset

In Series 2 action, poor poor Waylon Smithers is again leading the charge South! Probably due to the Resort Smithers effect. The re-release seems to have their counterparts heading south. The Same has happened to sorry old Flanders , with the Scout Leader Flanders counterpart grabbing more $ than the original! (Maybe a lot of Boy Scout Fans grabbing this one!) and also in Wave 2, Sunday Best Bart seems to have regained life!

Wave one, as the other waves as well, have overall dropped recently, with Lisa gaining just a few points. Mr.Burns continues to dip, since his highs in the $20 range in the summer, maybe due to the PJ Burns release in a recent playset.

Wave total price for a Series, sold individually, to assist collectors buying by the complete Series!

Series 1 $81.04
Series 2 $106.29
Series 3 $78.26
Series 4 $63.53

Week ending 11/22/02
Lots of stuff has been happening in the Simpsons WOS arena on Ebay lateley, mosty Bad with prices weakening!! Just in time for the holidays! Time to get those hard to find gifts!

First, the new arrivals, A few of the mail in Cooter and Sinclair sets have popped up, not many, but the close has been in the $33-46 range. I'll bet there won't be nearly as many of these around because of the large investment in extra figures it took to get them.

Also, Main Street and New Years Times Square sets have been making themselves Ebay regulars, especially the Main Streets! TONS of these around right now. Amazon still has some Times Square sets as of now, so you may want to get yours now. (personally I got two of them, cause I love the Homer in a Tux look!) Times Square closing about $57 right now, Main Streets about $85

Ok, so now the bad news... WOS prices are plummetting almost across the board! GITDH has really crashed. Even though there are very few of them around, the prices are just scratching $100 now.

In General, Playsets and Exclusives are also way down.
Pin Pal Burns has crashed down to near cost pricing! I remember when this bad boy fetched about $75 right when he started shipping! Many THOH3s are barely fetching Cost right now! So if you missed yours @ TRU, better get one now! In other playset news, the Living Room has gotten a bit more expensive, hovering @ $50, but poor Apu and the Kwik-E-Mart has crumped a bit (maybe due to the recent influx of new sets from the Fox Simpsons Store)

Ralph Wiggum is the sole gainer this week in the Series 4 lot, and overall everyone is mostly up in Series 3, with the exception of Otto slipping a bit. Sunday Best Homer even made the Movers & Shakers.

In Series 2 action, poor poor Waylon Smithers is leading the charge South! The perenially powerful wave has really slumped lately. Time to grab this set now! And in the classic wave, the Strongest performers, Lisa & Grandpa have also slipped, dragging the entire wave down!

Wave total price for a Series, sold individually, to assist collectors buying by the complete Series!

Series 1 $84.86
Series 2 $112.43
Series 3 $81.44
Series 4 $65.31

Week ending 10/2/02
Lots of stuff happening. Lots of new releases from Playmates, maybe making a downward trend on the WOS figures in general.
Notably in Series 1: Lisa and Grandpa, the heavy hitters in this wave are down considerably. Maybe due to the release of the Sunday Best series recently, driving back demand for these classic figures. I wonder if this will continue as other variants are released.

Smithers has really plummetted of late, with prices ranging in the forties, and none in the mid $60 range that we were getting used to before. Pin Pal Homer auctions have started to dry up. I wonder if Resort Smithers will drop the price of Wave 2 Smithers.

In Series 3, Moe and Millhouse, also the breadwinner in this wave, have dropped, closing around the same range as Otto, who gains this month.

My Cat's breath smells like cat food: Ralph follows the Itchy and scratchy trend downward in wave 4.

The Living Room and Kwik E Mart have fallen, while the Nuclear Power Plant has gone up!

Feature: Ave total price for a Series, sold individually, to assist collectors buying by the complete Series!

Series 1 $97.26
Series 2 $130.36
Series 3 $77.99
Series 4 $68.16

Week ending 8/25/02

Ok, some interesting movement in the charts this month!

GITDH has risen from the ashes and has flown up $24 this month to regain the throne that it deserves!

THOH2 has begun to rise, perhaps due to the recent activity surrounding this year's playset.

THOH3 has been added to the charts (although it won't show up in the chart until next update), $55.99 was the average closing price in the last few weeks, hopefully most collectors were able to score one off Amazon.com, although reports have surfaced that they have begun hitting the TRU shelves as well.

In Series one, Lisa has really fallen off, with some collectors scoring them below the $30 mark! Burnsie has begun to shoot up in price, with many closing higher than expected.

One of the most active moves was in Series 3, with Moe and Otto falling. I would have guessed that Moe would become more popular in anticipation of the upcoming Moe's Tavern Playset!

And who would EVER have thought that Patty would ever fetch more than retail!!?

Week ending 7/31/02

Most notably, GITDH has plummetted to the sub century mark. This may be due to the low volume of auctions, but is it an indication that the market is on it's way down?

Springfield elementary Schoolbus has started to appear lately. If the Family Car is any indication, I'd wait to pick these up later. Also many Faces of Springfield items are earning large margins on the $14.99 Target Retail price.

Smithers continues to lead Wave 2, but interestingly has many more auctions available than Barney who sells for alot less.

Many Ralph auctions are available lately, many more than his dad, the chief.

In playsets, Living Room auctions have started to fetch more recently, Here's one that ended for a whopping $90!

Truckloads of Boxing Homer figures are available, many ending only a few dollars higher than the original Toyfare price! Why is this?

Comic Book Guy set a new high this week, bucking the negative trend that some exclusives have taken recently. THOH 1 has fallen dramatically from it's previous highs! Also, check out this crazy auction! ALL Toyfare Exclusives for a whopping $500! That's a $100 each!!

Week ending 7/18/02

Summertime continues!
Series one is tending to keep it's prices relatively stable lately.

Series 2: Smithers retains his lead on the top spot as Pin Pal Homer raises a whopping 46% to edge past poor flanders in this very competitive wave.

Series 3: Whoa, Dude! Otto races past all comers, including Moe, to dominate this wave. More Milhouse auctions lately, but still fairly hard to come buy. KK Bart rounds out the bottom of the pack.

My cat's breath smells like Cat food. Ralph Wiggum remains as the most sought after character in Wave 4, with Patty destined to remain as the bottom feeder in this (and maybe all waves!).

Skinner has consistenly moved upward in recent weeks, now fetching around $30.

GITDH loses it's King throne this week as a few low ending auctions allow THOH1 to at least for now become King of all WOS toys!

Week ending 7/2/02

Summertime
! Leaves many collectors with more time and money to search for auctions!

Yet again: Millhouse auctions are esp. hard to come by. Collectors must be hanging on to this classic. Very few auctions. Maybe because there aren't any variants coming anytime soon. Maybe they need a Sunday Best Millhouse!

Series 2 movers! Smithers moving back up to previous levels. Flanders making a move on Homer in that wave as well, with SB Bart rounding out the bottom.

Series 3 news: Kamp Krusty Bart plumments do the expected bottom rung area as most Bart,Homer variants do in each wave. Moe continues to rule this series, perhaps in anticipation of the upcoming Moe's Tavern.

Series 4: Patty continues her pegwarmer status on Ebay as well, keeping her the only non-Bart/Homer variant to hold a bottom line position. Willie stock is up!

THOH1 recovering somewhat this week as the number of GIDTH auctions had plummeted. Usually there are a few ending each weekend, but very hard to come across these now.

Playset central:
Living Room rebounds to previous levels this time around.

Week ending 6/16

WOS Toys are generally on the move, slightly downward. Series 2 auctions have been dropping in numbers, very few of the most desirable figures on the market.

Millhouse auctions are esp. hard to come by. Only a couple closing on each weekend.

Attack of the Series 2! Smithers plummeting to Malibu Stacey levels for the first time! A sharp decline! Barney also falling back to Earth, as expected, his price bump was a bit over-rated.

THOH1 fell below the century mark for the first time, some auctions closing in the $80 range, and I'm talking MIB! GIDTH continues to climb.

Playset central: Skinner continues to lead the bottom of the pack in playsets, as most playsets have fallen, esp. the Living Room. CBG continues his up and down "sine-wave" pattern of pricing.

Week ending 6/2

WOS Toys this week in general really made up for lost ground. Memorial Day weekend looked like a bleak weekend for Ebayers for WoS stuff. This week, everyone is back, with gainers over decliners over 3-1.

Wave 1 News: For some reason there seemed to be tons of Krusty and Grandpa auctions out there, during Memorial day, which is quite unusual considering they were short packed for Series 1. (here's a grandpa that closed at a whopping $47.50!!)

Attack of the Series 2! Series 2 really took off this week, making up for a beating last week. Check out Barney, he's swept past Wiggum this week, as the other figures make modest gains.

Sunday Best Bart
is a tough sell lately, with difficulty in moving closed auctions.

Playset central: Skinner gets bad grades! I've seen many of his sets beginning to sell below retail. Time to grab an extra one!

Week ending 5/21

WOS Toys in general retreated this past week. Maybe people too busy watching Star Wars Episode II than bidding on Ebay. I expect the same for next week, Memorial Day Weekend. In general, pretty depressed auction market.

Lisa fell this week, and can you believe it? Grandpa is the leader in wave 1!

Chief Wiggum and Barney MOC auction numbers seem to have slowed down in numbers in recent weeks. This week they are both on the Movers list.

The biggest Battle is occuring over the Wave 2 figures. Smithers recovered his place above the $50 mark this week, PP Homer petered out this week, and Barney and Wiggum are in a dead heat around $30, while poor Neddy has fallen sharply this week. (should have sold stock in the Leftorium).

Here's an interesting auction pair, closing within 1 hour of each other. Here's a Ned that ended without bidders, starting @ $14.99 with a Buy It Now price of $19.99, yet another Ned closed @ $26! Go figure!

Week ending 5/14
A big week for WOS toys. 6 declining toys and 22 gainers this week!

Smithers cooled off this week with his ave. price dropping less than $50 for the first time, due to some low finishing auctions on Mom's Day. Flanders has also become more popular, skyrocketing past Barney and Wiggum for the first time. We'll have to see if the trend keeps up!

Sunday Best Bart has really stabilized, with prices very steady.

KrustyLu Studios and Skinner with Elementary School seem to have really dropped in terms of numbers of auctions, with the prices starting to creep up.

Glow in the Dark Homer continues his reign as the most rare figure on the auction block, with few auctions even available. It may be time to bite the bullet and grab him before he goes above $200!

Pin Pal Burns shows more signs of scarcity, as the number of auctions continues to fall, and the prices have certainly gained, compared to last fall, now above the elusive $50 mark for Toyfare Exclusives (not including GITDH of course), Boxing Homer continues to take a beating.

Playsets rebounded strongly this week, esp. the Kwik-E-Mart and linivng room sets. Mayor Quimby and the Town Hall playset have dropped, as have the totla number of available auctions.
